DO NOT LEAVE THIS PORT! We were almost robbed 2 separate times in 30 mins. It was unbelievable. We were followed and cornered by some locals on scooters while we were in our rental car. They were banging on our window, of course we didn’t roll it down and luckily got out of there. But I’m sure they just wanted all of our cash. Then we went to get something to eat, and as my boyfriend was taking a photograph on something a man tried to snatch his iPhone.

No excursion. Flew into Puerto plata. Our drive from the airport to Riu Merenge was informative. My wife did not want to leave.

This is a beautiful port to view as you sail into it. Typical tourist port for walking around. I did do the Outback Dominican Adventure Tour and it was very good!!!!!!!

Very dirty and poor. So sad to see so many sick, homeless animals wandering around. I have heard many wonderful things about D.R. Am assuming the Santo Domingo end of the island is the nicer part.

Pretty much a shopping "cove" which means you would have to take an excursion if you want to see the Dominican Republic.

I book an excursion at "viator"that includes a tabacco factory, lunch, drinks that was AMAZING!!!! Love it !!!! Food was delicious!!!! And they give us a hat as a gift too!!!!
