Clean pool, clean port, rented an umbrella $20, floats $10, locker $12 (get $6 back) plenty of chairs, clean bathrooms, kind of a hike up to hill side cabana, and the ‘ocean’ water under the ocean cabana is NOT clear, looked like lake water, pretty murky there, so if ur looking for a cabana go with pool side, those looked cool. Brought our own drinks in back pack coolers, but glad we got off the ship. Food and drink here looked expensive, we didn’t buy anything at this port to eat or drink. Hubby wants me to mention they removed the ping pong table from port.

stayed at pool and waterslides because of the recent problems on the island with people dying at the resorts

The people was very interesting that greeted us coming off the ship. The stores were nice. I did Ocean World and the encounter with dolphins. When my sickness stirred up from the salmon cake from the ship dinner the previous day. The people of the island treated me so well and made sure I made it back to the ship safely. They rinse me down with cold water.

Loved this port...just spent the day shopping and went to relax in the VIP section at the pool with unlimited zip lining. Beautiful and relaxing... cannot wait to come back!

Not much shopping at port. It did have a beautiful pool area with water slides and zip line. The staff were very friendly there and at the hilltop bar. Amazing views from there. Very clean and well taken care of. Taxis seemed expensive, they wanted $100 to take the two of us to the waterfalls but we ended up going to the skyride at Mt Isabel De Torres National Park for a taxi ride of $60. Sky ride was $8 each. Amazing views at the top of the mountain. The locals were very pushy there wanting to take your picture for you and wanting you to come inside their shops at the top.

Plenty for shoppers and had a sky bar which was great. They also had a resort that cruisers could use for the pool and water slide area. Went on excursion through BJ's for Beach Horseback Riding. Excursion was phenomenal and worth the money with Marisol Tours.

Not a whole lot to do without an excursion booked, but enjoying the views from the boat is just as good to me.

Very beautiful geography. We walked outside of the Amber Cove area and got a taxi/tour for $40 total (for 3 people). The people are VERY pushy with soliciting and get upset when you don’t want to buy. The driving is crazy, and some parts are dirty but every town has places like that.

I, found Amber Cove a surprise to the eyes. It is beautiful the pier is wide and there were bicycle taxies that can carry up two three people they only are paid in tips to take you to the entry building of Amber Cove. Inside the building, you can purchase duty free merchandise from spirits, ground coffee or whole bean from DR, You can also sample their rum before you purchase. I purchased three bottles of rum that is made in DR that I had a pinacolato made with the same rum. The entire shopping area is lade out in large pavers and concreate . Diamond International will serve you rum punch while you shop and the punch more rum than punch. Three is a coffee shop that sells coffee whole bean or ground by the pound grown in DR . You can also order coffee drinks like at Starbucks. There is a out door bar that is like a round look out tower made of concreate with a view of the port and surrounding area. The bar serves local rum, food, other call brands and international biers. The water park is near by with a long slide it is down the path from the out door bar. There is a restraunt in the area of the souvenir shops that serves spirts and local seafood. Prices are affordable. There is a store there that is also owned by Diamonds INT that specializes in high end watches such as Citizen and other Swiss made watches. Prices range from $350 to over 10K. The store also, serves rum punch. A salesman named Pauli at Diamonds INT took me across the street and showed me all the brands of watches and of course they also had jewelry there as well. He is very informative on all the merchandise and will serve you more rum punch. We had a GREAT time at Amber Cove and it is a secure area and safe.

Loved our trip of seeing the history of the island. We went way overtime and almost didn't make the ship, but thankfully we booked through Carnival so they knew we were out there.
