The locals heckle too much and won’t leave you alone to check out stores and walk around. We did not like this port at all. If you go here, schedule and excursion!!

Dunns Fall is a must. We enjoyed climbing it. We also did the Dolphin Touch Experience, which we really enjoyed. Shopping was o.k. We had a horrible lunch at Jimmy Bruffet and would definitely not recommend that. It was expensive, the service was horrible, and the food was not that great. Wish we had gone back to the ship for lunch that day.

This port is beautiful. A lovely bay surrounded by lush hills. Even from the ship, you’ll be treated to the sounds of reggae music beckoning from the boats partying in the bay. You know this place is about having a good time! There are sooooo many people coming at you from all sides when you leave the port. Selling you things, trying to whisk you away on a tour or braid your hair, so many panhandlers or people selling you weed. It’s a lot to take in. We had a private driver who took us to the Blue Hole and Konoko Falls. These places were both beautiful although I believe the Blue Hole has a higher degree of physical difficulty than they let on. I have a leg that I injured a few years back that is full of plates and screws and the hiking on rough terrain and climbing up slippery rocks was a bit much for me. Although the guides there are very careful with you and make it as safe as possible. Jamaica has a cool vibe that I really enjoyed and I would love to go back someday.

Had a great time at the Dunn's River Falls. We got got off the boat a.s.a.p. so we were the first ones there and got to climb the falls all by ourselves and got great pictures. After that went to Margaritaville and hung out there most of the day. As for the locals, they can be annoying and pushy but if you act like you don't see them then you have nothing to worry about. If you hang out in the Island Village Shopping Center you don't have to worry about them as they are kept out.

Having experienced Dunns River Falls before, we chose a less crowded, more relaxed tour to Turtle River Gardens (formerly Enchanted Gardens) and waterfalls. You can get in the falls on this tour...we just chose not to. This property has new orders so much needed work is in progress, but there are many interesting and beautiful plants to see and learn about. We also got to go into the small aviary and feed birds including a Macaw and Peacocks. Ocho Rios is such a beautiful area. Don't be intimidated by the people. Most of them are very friendly. A simple, kind "no thank you" is all that is needed. We picked up Blue Mountain coffee for family gifts here.

We didn’t do any excursions in this port, and my friend was adamant that she get off the ship to go to a shop. So we accompanied her and it was a nightmare. We were getting swarmed left and right by shop owners, taxi drivers, and beggars in general. We weren’t off the ship more than an hour in total because we just rushed back. It’s a beautiful area, but don’t get off the ship unless you have an excursion booked through carnival.

Jamaica was an interesting place to visit. The straw markets were an experience but I will tell you that the people may seem pushy but there are very honest. My husband dropped his wallet in the straw market and they chased him down and returned it. We did end up buying something from them but it was less than losing his wallet and all the headaches. My kids zip lines at a place called Hevens and they loved it.
