Worst port that I’ve ever been to. The Jamaicans were ruthless. They followed us, hid behind walls/bridges, threw beads at us and expected us to buy them. At the stores, they would not leave us alone. The dancing woman demanded that we give her money after she practically grabbed us for a picture. It was dirty and for the first time, I did not feel safe. I grew up in a major city and never felt unsafe. If we happen to have another cruise that stopped there, we won’t get off of the ship.

If you don’t join and excursion and just walk around town, don’t bother getting off the ship. Overpriced jewels and tourist crap being sold in the shops. This is a crappy port

We went zip lining through the forest canopy and it was unbelievable!!! Then we went to a bar to hang out with some of the locals. Everybody was extremely friendly and fun to be around. I almost want to move to Jamaica now! Be careful of the over-proof rum, it sneaks up on you!

Tour around the area, went and saw fern-gully road which used to be a river that got turned into a road after a natural disaster caused the river to be shifted.

The beaches right at the port are just ok. If you want to just go for a swim and are not picky this might work for you. But if you are looking for a better experience you might want to book a tour. We went to Margaritaville which is right at the port and has a small beach which is free but they do charge $15 per chair. It was ok but lots of locals walking around smoking pot. Not ideal if you have kids with you.

Love the people! One day hope that Jamaica is more friendly, and as attractive as other Caribbean islands, and the vendors less aggressive. People will spend more and visit more if shopping and browsing is more pleasant. A beautiful island, want to see more.

Loved the Dunn River Falls. Fun times and beautiful sights. Shopping was too aggressive for me. One sales person tried to put a T-shirt over my head. I know they are trying to make a living.
