We had a really great time here as well we booked a excursion here too NEGRIL EXPERIENCE - MARGARITAVILLE & CLIFF DIVER this one was so much fun I loved every bit of it can't wait to plan my next cruise this will be one of the excursions I do maybe might do a dolphin one next time but definitely recommend this excursion won't be disappointed

I never felt unsafe. I wish I would have taken more money off the ship. My second favorite excursion was at this port. Loved it

When planning to go to Montego Bay I was very concerned by reading other reviews about safety and things to do. We decided to go on a hop on hop off tour; beach, shopping, etc. From the minute we walked off the ship there wasn't one moment when we didn't feel completely safe. Everyone we ran into was friendly and helpful. We were offered weed one or two times, but we said no thank you and they went about there business. We went to Dr. Cave where we enjoyed time on the beach and drank a couple drinks. The waiters come on the beach. They had water trampolines and the beach was very clean! Great pic! Afterwards we went to the local craft market where the hospitality was through the roof. We asked to eat local food and was taken to a TINY hole in the wall. The food was fresh and amazing! Afterwards we walked around and shopped a little. Everyone was very polite and if you said no thank you to buying anything then they thanked you for even looking. We were completely satisfied with our trip to Montego Bay and would gladly go back. I hope that if you have this island on your itinerary that you'll give it a chance, because it's worth it! :)

One star is being too nice for our experience at this port. SCAMMER ALERT. We got off the ship and walked through the port. To get anywhere you have to take a taxi. We were greeted by many drivers. We asked for one to take us to the beach. They said $14 per person round trip. 4 groups of people got on this taxi bus for the same reason..round trip to the beach. The drive then drove us to the down town area and parked in the middle of an intersection. Said we would stay here for 15min to sightsee. We all got off but stayed next to the taxi and took pictures. We felt unsafe and the majority of us felt confused. Then they drove us up a hill to some little mansion/resort. They said we stay here for 30min and see the sights. But first the owners or workers demanded $5 to enter. No one left the parking lot or paid. Once again us strangers started to confide in eachother and started getting real suspicious about this driver. We left there and ended up back in town around some shopping areas. We again stopped and was told to enter "only this store". We all did and bought some Jamaica souviners. Back on the bus and now he said to the beach. He are going on about 2hrs for a 10min drive. We are getting scammed and non of us know where we are or whats gonna happen next. While driving closer to the beach the driver now has claimed himself our personal tour guide for the day and wants $50 for this round trip drive to the beach. All of us start looking at eachother and laugh. Except one family of 4 that is opening up their wallet for whatever this guy wants. We tried to warn them but they seemed like the type to not have conflict and probably would have gave them everything they had. So we finally get to the beach and the driver parks and says it's $10 to get into the beach. He also claims that food is included at the grill/buffet on the beach. And he doesnt open the door and is wanting to collect the money first. All of us except that family of 4 start complaining about his intentions and question this $14 round trip to the beach. We spent a good 5min in the cab/shuttle refusing to pay this until he finally collects from a just few people. He said that he will take us back to port in 3hrs. So we're finally at the beach and shake off that ride we just had. We spend about 15min at the beach and found the food. We get in line to get some food and another person comes up to us and says the food cost $15. We tell him that we paid to get into the beach and the food was included in that. He said that that it's not and the food cost seperate. So we got out of line and went back to the water. About 20min into playing around in the water, my wife gets stung by a small jellyfish. She was okay at first but then starting having an allergic reaction to it. We decided we had enough and just wanted to get back to the boat. We found our driver laughing it up with the ticket booth employee and asked him to take us back right away. At first he was pushy about why and wanted us to stay until everyone else is ready to go. We still had about 2hrs of beach time to go. I explained my wifes condition and that a 20min round trip would leave plently of time to get back for the others. He saw my wife and her condition and brought us back to the boat right away...without the shady detours. I change this review to two stars only for this reason. He could had made us wait or ditched us all together. Leaving us to find medical attention or another taxi. He didnt request anymore money on the ride back and dropped us back at port respectfully. We only paid the $14 as agreed too and $10 at the beach. I dont know if he got the others for the $50. I believe everyone on that small bus was first time travelers including us, because we got scammed and continued to play his game. I'll be keeping a more educated eye out for that on our next cruise. My wife recovered a few hours after taking some medication in our cabin. The taxi was all white with a blue triangle logo with letters JCAL and 952-7574/8277. Sorry for the long post but hopefully this may help some people from getting the same scam we got hit with! Montego Bay will be avoided by us in the future, but not Jamaica. We hear good things about Ocho Rios and will try that another time.

Really enjoyed our Catamaran Sail and Snorkel. Would only caution to use the excursions and not wander off alone. The people were very friendly, but somewhat pushy at times.
