One of my favorites! I love the music and the people. The shops at this port were great and you could spend your whole time there if you wanted. We did an excursion where we had a tour of The green grotto caves and then after a short drive climbed up the waterfall. I would definitely recommend that excursion if you are physically able to do it!

So anytime you are in Jamaica Dunns River falls is highly recommended which we did but I had found a package including horseback riding on the beach. We enjoyed the whole day and would definitely do it again.

This port was terrible. We didn't book anything to do. We wanted to explore the city but when we stepped out of the gates we were immediately bombarded. When the local police tried to keep them away from us the vendors would physically push the police out of the way. I have 3 small children and they don't need to see that.

We took an excursion, "Go Native Jamaica" and would recommend this excursion to see a little of the Jamaican history, culture and cuisine!! We visited St. James Parish which was beautiful, then saw a quaint little school where the children sang for us and then off to sample some local fresh fruits, papaya and mangoes. We enjoyed a nice Jamaican lunch and topped it off with a local beer, Red Stripe! We had a very nice tour guide that did a great job sharing her knowledge of Jamaica!

Ok, so it might be my mistake. I don’t normally do excursions, I like to do my own thing. My first clue that this might be a mistake was that once we got off the boat, I couldn’t help but to notice the large wall surrounding the port. I even jokingly said, feels like I’m in a prison. There were a lot of shops and dining inside the wall (thank goodness). Because we attempted to walk outside the walls and were very aggressively approached by so many hustlers. We followed tightly to 4 others as we walked only one block before making our way back to the gates to get in. There were several attempts from the locals trying to separate us and lead us into different direction, we were having someone in our faces and couldn’t even have a conversation with each other as they rudely were forcing their services, good and yes, even drugs upon us. It was such a relief to make our way back, inside the safe compounds of those walls. And yes, walls work! (Sorry about that). We still had fun and food inside. Got to hear about other cruisers and their stories about their excursions. But some said they shared some similar experiences until they got far enough away from this tourist trap. Next time, I’m going to do a large group excursion.

Be sure to walk around and check all the vendors before making any purchases. If you're looking for tanzanite, go to tanzanite International they're much more friendly and helpful than anyone else. And there is plenty of Jamaican coffee to buy, make sure you purchase the right one and not the blend. Also make sure to have a Jamaican beef patty and Coco bread, that was amazing. The only thing that was missing from this port was steel drums!

Extremely nice port stop! Lots of great shops with the normal and some unique souvenirs. Bonus: there is a fully stocked Starbucks! We felt very safe with most salesmen respectful when I said, “No, thank you” for buying wares.
