The port itself is very nice and safe. There's a nice swim up bar in Margaritaville with a hot tub and places to lay out around the pool. Lots of souvineer shops. We did venture outside the gate to get a feel for what Jamaica is really like and we were careful not to go far. Definitely want to do your research about the countries you are visiting as we knew there is a high crime rate outside the safety of the gated port in Jamaica.

Beautiful beach! Island is kind of sketchy once you go through customs. Very poor area once you go through customs gate to visit island. Don’t walk around island by yourself!!! Your better off taking your!!!

The port is nice. I went horseback riding on dry land then into the ocean. I was scared at first but I loved it. Dunn’s fall was a blast as well. Awesome time there as well.

My friend & I (2 females) walked 1 block outside the gate & we were harassed by a nasty filthy druggie. I would’ve knocked out the one tooth he had left if I wouldn’t have been afraid of contracting HIV from him.

Another cruise line-built “artificial” port. There is nothing at the pier but the standard shopping village and a pool. Excursions from here are expensive because they’re so far away from anything you want to see. Jamaica is not the safest place for women to travel so we didn’t venture away from the port. The little shopping village managed to do some damage to my credit card though. They happened to have a shop selling one of my favorite watch brands so I bought 2. 🤷‍♀️

With $50 per port credit, we booked our excursion via NCL and chose the Jamaican Bobsled & Dunns River Falls tour. Other than waiting in line for a hour for the Bobsled Run, we had a blast. The Bobsled is well worth it but they would be better served to provide a group a window of time to avoid waiting so long as this would provide additional time to shop, etc while on their premises. Dunns River Falls climb is a must. It isn't that hard and it only took our group (including some young children under 10) about an hour to climb, including stops for photos, etc.
