my wife and I walked over to the royal Caribbean port which is just a 5 minute walk, and spent the day eating and drinking at senor frog. we had a great time, plus they built a new mall right across the street.

Try Paradise Beach or Nachi Cocum. Playa Uvas is also good.

If you are looking to do some AWESOME shopping, take a cab ( or walk!! ) to Los Cinco Soles downtown. Panchos Backyard is in the courtyard there with great Margaritas , food as well as music.

Depends on what kind of shopping you are looking for. If you like native crafts, take a trip to El Cedral. My husband bought a handmade leather gun case there in January for a lot less than in the port areas. There are a couple of jewelry stores and a pharmacy. The oldest church on the island is also there. I don’t remember if there are any places to eat there, but we went early and wanted to eat at Mezcalito’s anyway. We were trying to make the Bee Sanctuary too, but we were close on time so we skipped it, plus it had started to rain. We book our taxi ahead of time; look for Vico’s Taxi on Facebook. He will take you anywhere you want to go, & you can book him for as long as you want.
