Loved everything about the beauty of St. Maarten! The skyride(ski lift) was marvelous and beautiful going to the top of the mountain. Wonderful, beautiful views you get from the post at the top(peak) of the mountain(highest point on the island) are breathtaking!

We took a cab to the Divi Resort on Small Bay Beach. No access charge but you have the choice to rent chairs and umbrellas. Nice, quiet beach with great snorkelling alone the big rocks. Soft sand and gentle waves. There is also a bar there where you can get a delicious "Guava Berry Rum" pina colada! (The Island Specialty) VERY YUMMY and refreshing!

No excursion booked because we wanted to take public busses and hang with the locals. The hurricane damage was more extensive in the non tourist areas. The locals lost so much after the hurricane, but still had so much positivity in them. These people were some of he nicest I’ve met while traveling!

Beautiful beaches and people. The Guavaberry daiquiri is delicious! Take the water taxi ($7/person round-trip) and go shopping or stay on the beach. For $20, we got 2 beach chairs, an umbrella, WiFi, and 2 free drinks each.

St Maarten is definitely still in recovery mode, but we still had a great time here on the island. When you get off the ship l, there are two bus stop areas towards the end of the cruise center. One will take you directly to Orient Beach or Maho Beach, and the other is for booking island tours. There are several different types of tours with varying stops and length (time). The cost of the these are regulated and it also has to do with how many people are on the tour. We took a 4 hour city tour. We had 10 people on the tour and I think it was $30/pp. The French side of the island is still very much affected by the hurricane, no hotels are open yet. The Dutch side is in sightly better shape with 5 open hotels. Our driver shared history and stories about the island while on the tour and we made 5 stops total. We did a quick stop at Orient Beach and then were at Maho beach (airplane beach) for about 45 minutes. Since we’ve never been to the island before, I loved this comprehensive tour of the island. When we stop there on future cruises, I definite want to try an ATV excursion or just go to the beach.

Really enjoyed this port. Research things that may not be part of your ships excursions. LOVED little beach and we go lucky enough to get a room for a day at Diva Resorts. Very good snorkeling and it is a $12 taxi ride from the port.
