A ciouple of friends had told me tobe sure to go to Marigot, but Marigot was closed the day we were there due to a demonstration, so we styed in Phillipsburg, which was very enjoyable - did the jewelry shops and had a bite of lunch facing the water.

We took a taxi to Orient Beach. There are plenty of tiki beach bars, lounge chairs to rent (for $10 each!). Surf was high, kids enjoyed boogie boarding here. We walked up to the nude beach to see what one looked like...nothing but old people...very strange, but worth taking the walk to see this oddity. Great Shopping on the Dutch side, which is where the ferry from ship dock takes you. Lots of stores, very clean and safe feeling.

Must take time to dine at Taloula Mangoes and take in the gorgeous beach and friendly people. Food's not bad either. Dutch side of the island is well maintained and easy to navigate. We found best jewelry buys here, especially at Ray's which is much smaller than the larger multi island shops.
