Do not rent a car or attempt to drive. The island has too many cars and is one big traffic jam. Over developed, paved paradise.

Never made it to St. Maarten since ship was re-routed to Mexico. Was looking forward to seeing St. Maarten.

3 part tour: bus in Dutch side was good. very good views; water part was ok except the walking around the harbor (sewage running right into the water and the guy singing and talking was weird) last part was the French side tour, where we saw beggars, filth, tumbled down houses. Aparently they never pick up trash. Really good guide, Marie made it worth the price.

We did the scenic coastal hike and loved it. Our guide was knowledgeable and courteous when one person had to sit because she couldn't go further.

Great for water activities and shopping: catamaran sail and snorkel folks were very good.
