My favorite from our cruise, St. Maarten has tons to do. Dutch side is very well off since hurricane but French side is still in very rough shape. We went horse back riding and to the Flying Dutchman Zipline, then had a taxi tour ride with Joyce Personal Services, all of which I recommend. The port is well laid out, I liked the fenced off shopping area. Very clean.

We knew we wanted to hike a trail at Geneve Bay to visit a natural pool. Our cab driver, Glen, knew exactly where we wanted go. He dropped us off and told us he would be back in 2 1/2 hours. The trail is rocky and often narrow. The scenery is breathtaking. After a 45 minute hike we reached the natural pool. You have to climb down to rocks to get to the pool. Orient Beach is open (😜 literally and figuratively) and in beautiful shape! There are a few establishments open and best of all the drink prices are reasonable. Taxi to/from is ~$20/each way.

It is in much better shape since we were there a year ago. They have really cleaned it up since the the last hurricane. We went to the Orient Beach area, and there are now restaurants and restrooms at two of the beaches, along with a lot of water sports.

Beach day on St Maarten can't be beat!! Off the ship, a short boat shuttle to the beach and you are there! For hearty types, you can even walk to the beach - white sand and gentle waves!!!
