I did an excursion to the Balata Gardens and it was beautiful. I really enjoyed this tour and learned so much. The gardens are lush and perfect. I didn't go into Fort-De-France, as I didn't want to deal with the Euro thing (and after 3 hours at the gardens, I was pretty tired, as the heat was intense). One of my table mates had her phone stolen in Fort-De-France by a "bumping" pick pocket. So guard your stuff.

Although the island was beautiful the people were rather standoffish. I went into the town and found most of the people only spoke French. I did find a nice pastry shop on one of the back streets. Great food but I got the opinion they didn’t like Americans too much by the way the worker talked (or should I say didn’t talk) to me. However, the street vendors that were set up right off the ship were easier to talk to. NOTE: The streets in town reminded me of the European streets – narrow and bustling.
