It was great to have access to the complimentary buffet and to be able to use the beverage package on the island. We learned that our visit was the first for two ships to be on the island at the same time (NCL Escape and NCL Sky), and the staff did a great job managing over 7000 people. We do wish that some of the facilities were not under construction and that we had had more information on how things would work on the island. Beware: Sand fleas are common on Great Stirrup Key, and we came back with many bites since we took the last tender back to the ship (after sunset when the sand fleas come out).

There isn’t a dock for the ships yet so we had to take tender boats, which was an easy and straight forward process. Once on the island, we went to the first little beach. The waters weren’t as clear as St. Thomas but the snorkeling was alright. Very very rocky though so make sure you have after shoes! We had an excursion on an Eco Boat Tour. It was really good an informative! The only downside was other people on the boat who didn’t consider others and wouldn’t pass the sea creatures along for others to see. After our excursion, we decided to get back on the ship since it was stormy and started to rain.

We were at this port a couple years ago. I felt they offered more then. I was not impressed with this island compared to Carnival & Royal Caribbean private island. We took a long weekend cruise with Royal Caribbean last spring break and there private island was full of things to do. We did not want to leave, NCL was a little boring.

This manmade beach club is nice with new facilities and a few bars and a big food pavilion and a flea market with plenty of vendors. The beach sand needs to be raked to remove loose rocks and coral. The water is calm and shallow, but lots of rocks! Water shoes are a must. They really need to remove the loose rocks in the water. They are a hazard! Plenty of beach chairs and decent snorkeling.

We never got there because of rough seas. A member of the crew told us this happens almost as frequently as it doesn't. Fortunately the Captain was allowed to enter the port of Nassau a day early and we were able to walk around Nassau and see the sights for an extra day.

We absolutely loved GSC! The lagoons and the the whole island of self really gave that Caribbean life feel. We also loved that drinks and food were all inclusive. Definitely would love to go back. It's a great private island
