Book a private excursion here and you'll be doing yourself and your family a favor. But if you just want to "walk around" not worth it at all. When you first pull into the port its something else...

It was kind of boring I don't think I would go back it was poor and a lot of people selling stuff I think it's one of those things when you sent it once that's enough

Did the bus tour and visit to the Gardens of the Groves, which we really enjoyed. The island is still recovering from the recent hurricanes and ones in the past, with many large facilities are still closed. The shopping center at the end of the tour was a major disappointment.

The main (very small) shopping area is 12 miles from the cruise port. Not much to do on the island except go to a beach or do a water sport excursion (expensive). I thought Freeport was a wasted stop...........Carnival could do better.

The city is desolate now - while we enjoyed the straw market and marina that we found - most guests hated the location. Since the hurricane destroyed so much maybe you should travel to another island? There really is nothing in Freeport at this time. The straw market was only 1/2 occupied (but we loved what was there!) and all the shops/restaurants by the marina were closed up or in construction. We found an outside bar and a street singer which made our visit complete. However most of the people we chatted with really didn't care for the stop.

I would stay on the ship for this port. Went there this past July and it still looked like a hurricane had just gone through and not a year ago. We did a beach excursion and it was okay, a long wait to board the buses to take the 30 minute ride to the beach. Due to the long wait to board the bus to get to the beach area we only had 2.5 hours instead of 4 hours. If I ever went back, i would stay on the ship. It is very much an industrial port.
