Review summary

This was my 7th cruise over the past 16 years and the second one with Carnival. I'd heard the Carnival Breeze was a bigger, newer ship and was disappointed it's not designed, outfitted, or decorated nearly as lavishly as Royal Caribbean ships and has an "economy" look and feel to it. While the food was good, the shows entertaining, and the staff helpful and friendly, I've grown used to a certain level of quality, service, and amenities on a cruise and can clearly see how Carnival has cut or lessened these things to maximize profits. To be fair, other cruise lines have done the same thing, but I haven't noticed it as much as with Carnival. I guess you get what you pay for. In the future, I'll probably spend a few more bucks and book with Royal Caribbean.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
If you buy an interior cabin and want early dining, you're automatically going to be put on a "wait" list. When you check in at the cruise port, you'll then be put on late dining. (Yep, that's the way Carnival does it. The people who pay more for their cabin get first choice on early dining.) When we got on the ship, I switched our late dining to anytime dining and we lived with that.

Nice cabin, very clean and spacious. Very comparable to Royal Caribbean. No complaints.

Ship tip

Nice ship, but spend the same money and go on a Royal Caribbean ship. Much nicer with better amenities.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Key West, Florida

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

The main (very small) shopping area is 12 miles from the cruise port. Not much to do on the island except go to a beach or do a water sport excursion (expensive). I thought Freeport was a wasted stop...........Carnival could do better.

I spent a few more on RC and was Very disappointed in the service staff and it seemed like an old folks cruise very boring, no wait staff to bring drinks or pick up dirty plates and glasses. No more RC for us, just saying🛳

I guess you 2 didn't see it was Carnival Breeze, must have drank too much or was low on cash. Economy class please who are you fooling, I'm sure if you could have afford it you would have taken your RC cruise and we on Carnival would have not missed you guys with all the fun Carnival offers.

We are so looking forward to our cruise on the Breeze next month! Glad it was at a reasonable cost. Sorry you didn't find it to be up to your standards. I think we'll be happy for being on an affordable cruise, thankful for all we get on a cruise!
