Poor area which was really devastated by the hurricane but we enjoyed it immensely. We paid for a taxi to bring us to a nice beach (went to Pirate's Cove). We had a blast. Husband went snorkeling again. Me and the kids stayed at the beach and saw coral and fish ourselves. Did a little shopping before heading back to the ship. Everything was reasonably priced and the experience was much, much better than others have described!

Freeport only gets 3 stars due to the Segway excursion and friendliness of the people. (Not the vendors, see below) Try to avoid the shopping. Vendors are pushy and kinda rude.

Nothing to see. Just some shopping at the port. The disembarkation was a nightmare. The timing was delayed and people were jammed in the hallway and staircases on the fifth floor. I thought that some passengers were going to come to blows. One passenger in particular was very aggressive. The whole episode was poorly organized with only Wesley trying to hold back the crowds. In future if there is a delay you should send everyone to the Pantheon theatre and give them disembarkation numbers to keep things orderly

if you're looking for a port to skip I would skip this one. not much to do unless you take a cab. the street vendors have some cool stuff and everything is reasonably priced.

Book excursion if you want to make the most of this port. All you can do is walk around. We were not too impressed by just walking around...all we did was buy a few souvenirs.

Bahamian House Retreat was so much fun. They keep the groups small. There are appetizers, lunch (red snapper was unbelievable), and homemade banana bread. Beautiful, private beach... gorgeous view on one side cove on the other for paddle boarding, swimming, kayaking on your own. Bartender with drinks flowing freely. Small vending stand with friendly locals who were so fun to engage in discussion. Wonderful to kick back and relax!

We took a cab to the Taino Beach resort. Very reasonable with huge pool, lazy river, slide, grotto bar , access to beach. We had stayed there before so we callEd ahead of time to verify and they said sure just pay a fee for the day. 😎 🌴🌊

It definitely wasn't what we were expecting but still had a good time. The locals very nice a patient made up for the fact that it was kind of beat down.

We took a taxi to Port Lucaya & were going to walk across the street to the Grand Lucayan Resort. The taxi driver told us that the resort was closed, but we were already on the way, so we went ahead with our original plan. Unfortunately, when we got there, the resort was boarded up & had a construction fence all the way around it. The people at the market were very nice & told us there was a free beach just up the road by the police station, so we headed there. When we got there, there was a group of people that told us the chairs & umbrellas were for rent only. Then they suggested some ‘recreational medicine’ to my husband & daughter. Since we didn’t want to participate, we went further down the beach & came upon some other chairs off by themselves. Not knowing that they were part of the ‘rentals’ we settled my mom & our stuff on a couple before taking our grandson to the water to play. After playing for awhile, we started playing in the sand when we noticed a couple of the guys who greeted us when we arrived, plus a few much larger guys, walking towards my husband, who was sitting with my mom. They preceded to stand over him & tell him that we could only sit in the chairs if we paid $15 each for them. My husband told them no, thank you & we walked back to the market to wait for a taxi to the ship. I won’t do this port again without scheduling an actual excursion
