We did the walking tour of the city about four miles. The sidewalks are marked with special color stones to follow. The walking tour go by all the American Revolution battle sites, homes and churches along the way.

We did the Boston Old Town Trolley hop on/hop off tour. we booked it online and got a senior discount and free tickets to the Boston Tea Party. The tour was very good but with heavy traffic and ship being late to disembark we didn't have enough time to get on and off as we had hoped. We did get off at Fenway Park to see the big green wall and the bronze statues. we got back on and continued to the Boston Tea Party and walked to James Hook restaurant to have a late lunch of lobster roll and crab roll. Those were absolutely the best we've ever had. We walked back to the Boston Tea Party and had an enjoyable one hour there having an interactive history refresher. The gift shop was really nice and had a good selection of pewter items made in USA. I would recommend this tour even if you don't have enough time to get off and wander around. it would be even better on a two day visit especially since our tickets could have been used for a second day.

The best budget way to see Boston is to walk the Freedom Trail, which is a tour route that you follow by looking down and seeing the red line on the sidewalk. It's a nice 4 hour walk (including stops) that goers by all the essential places. You can start at Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market.

We took the hop on hop off tour but it was a very nice Friday and with so much traffic we stayed on the bus. It was interesting and Boston is a city we would enjoy visiting again sometime.
