If you stay in Anchorage, I recommend eating at The 49th State for dinner, AK Alchemist for lunch and The White Spot for breakfast.

Very small port town. Stayed overnight at Inn at Whittier, which has a nice restaurant overlooking the port. Friendly staff and well run. Enjoyed checking out the docks and different fishing boats.

Only arrived at Whittier by train and went from the train to the ship - I have to give it a 5 star because embarkation was so simple. I wish that there would have been a close place to purchase bottled water and a couple bottles of wine but there was not that I could see and that was fine.

Disembarkation went smoothly. We had a land tour booked so we met in our assigned waiting area and then was taken off the shift and directly onto the Direct To The Wilderness train. Everything was smooth even though it was raining.

This is where we departed and took the train up to Denali which was awesome and the guide in our car was very friendly and knowledgeable. Made the 9 hour trip feel like about 4 hours. Food on the ride was really good.
