you should be able to do the train portion? We have the train round trip booked for our cruise. It's only the crossing into Canada that is the issue. it explains it on the trains website.

we had the White Pass & Yukon Adventure booked however once it was canceled we replaced it with the White Pass & Skagway highlights.

Check with your cruise line as they may have a similar excursion that doesn’t cross the Canadian border.

You can book the Summit route direct with the railroad. Depending on which day you are in port you may be able to use 2 for 1 coupon from Alaska Tour Saver. Would save roughly $100 if it works for you, but is very limited.

Since cruise season started all the rail excursions from all cruise lines have been canceled. We're on the same cruise as you, we had initially booked the rail excursion, but with what we have been reading decided to cancel. We booked a van tour that follows along the rail route, and unlike the rail, we get to do stops along the way for photos.

We went on the White Pass train a few days ago. The only hiccup was we had to turn one we hit the Canadian border due to Covid restrictions. We still enjoyed the ride.

If you wanted to cross the border. You could rent a car and drive.

Check directly with White Pass. They are still doing the excursion you just won’t go over border

They canceled it on our cruise in 2017 on the Solstice. Stated the railway had issues. We cruised to the Icy Strait. Small area. Limited things to do. Walked around and got back on the ship. Most people did the zip line. Going back to Alaska and hopefully will be able to take this excursion. We didn’t find out it was changing until the day before.

well if it makes you feel any better this was our least favorite excursion when we did it. it was way too long, very boring and the sights were not that great honestly. We saw no wildlife and it was the same view the whole ride and then the same back down. We wished we wouldve done something else. our kids even fell asleep.

Yes, ours too only goes to the border and still shows on the intinery.

Look at Viator.com. They have lots of tours with local operators including some small-group tours that the cruise lines don't offer.

If you are looking to take the train in Skagway, you can still do so. Only the trips that crossed the boarder have been cancelled. Celebrity should still have the White Pass Summit excursions available. As someone else mentioned, if you still wish to do a boarder crossing, Chilkoot is still running bus tours. hth

was this cancelation for your cruise dates only? We are going South bound in September and we were are able to book the White Pass train.
Answered by Blurosemarie on May 10, 2022
just to let you know that it wasn't Celebrity that canceled the excursion, it was the excursion company. It has been canceled for the entire season this year.

We rented a jeep and drove the Yukon Highway on our own. Didn't really need a jeep, but it just felt more fun than a car. LOL. We were able to stop whenever and wherever we wanted and found waterfalls, a lake with a beach, bears (from a distance). We met a family that had been moose hunting. Yes, my husband and his friend asked to see what was under the tarp 😯. We drove all the way up to Emerald Lake. And stopped at the desert in Carcross. Spectacular!
