Absolutely the BEST port, though we had to book an independent tour in order to go see Kodiak brown bears. Which was EXCELLENT! (Sea Hawk Air) But we needed more time as we literally were the last ones getting back onboard the ship. A longer stay in this port is needed.

There was more to do here finally, although tired from crossing the dateline we did manage to find things to do. I was wait listed on an excursion which I ultimately did not get on (staff was not that helpful with this - I was disappointed) so left to my own devices I walked around town. The aquarium had only about three fish. Hardly worth the walk. I was told the museum was nice but we didn't get there.

This is a great port. Another stunning beauty. Lots of fishing action. Saw the most wildlife here: lots of whales (humpbacks and orca), dozens of otters close-up, bald eagles, lots of tufted puffins, fall porpoises. Took the Kodiak Marine & Wildlife Sightseeing boat tour and it was great. On sail-our toward Haines, we were surprised by the almost constant sightings of fall porpoises; it was like a fall porpoise highway!
