We flew on a float plane to Neets Bay to see bears. This was the best! I would have loved to have spent more time there though.

We did the bering sea crab boat excursion and thought it was excellent. An actual crab boat from the show deadliest catch has been converted with seating, so you can observe how fisherman go about their job of long lining, and crab fishing. The eagles of the area recognize the boat because they feed them. Its quite a show when wild eagles come within 20 ft of the boat to pluck herring from the water. Had zero time to explore the port however due to very short time in port.

We took the local bus ($2 per trip or $5 all day -need the app "Token Transit" for all day purchase). The schedule is online. The Silver line makes a loop every hour. First went to Totem Bight park which is a restored Native Village. $5 entry. If you're lucky you can take the guided Ranger tour. Lots of totem poles, Klan house, and beautiful trails and seaside to explore. Then rode the bus to Saxman Village a native town. $5 entry. Could see men making totem poles. Then rode bus back to Creek Street. The shops over the water are amazing. Watched seals catching fish in the creek. If you walk upstream of the buildings, you can see the fish ladder and lots of salmon climbing (early September) then continue upstream to see salmon spawning in the pools.

Went on crab feast and boat excursion at a lodge. The crab was excellent, the boat ride was informative and had beautiful views of the scenery. We did this excursion 4 years ago and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Ketchikan sells lined jackets for $26. Bought one last time, bought one this time. Cheapest port for merchandise you will find.

I didn’t buy any excursions but they have a self guided walking tour that’s very extensive. I was able to wonder me way to the totem museum, creek street, and some trails. It was very relaxing if you like walking there’s a lot to do. I also saw sea lions eating the salmon that were swimming up stream so that was neat.
