We did the Misty Fjords plane trip. What a waste of money. It was raining and so foggy you couldn't see much. They said they only have a few sunny days a summer. After our trip they cancelled the rest for the day. I know you can't control the weather but when you only have a handful of sunny days your chances of seeing much are pretty slim. I heard the wildlife boat ride was really good. As with any port it was geared for the tourist and shopping.

Our first port and canceled shore excursion. The cancellation was a huge let down and somewhat an omen for things to come. I was told that the cancellation was due to a mechanical failure and since I cannot verify otherwise, I will leave it as a mechanical failure. I was offered space on one of two other shore excursions, but declined. These other excursions did nothing for me and if I had been interested in them I would have booked one of them in the first place. Ketchikan is a nice place and I used my "canceled" time to wonder the town and watch other tourists. My wife and I had so much fun watching and photographing other tourists that I feel compelled to give a good rating despite the excursion problems.

A sea port village that now contains too many jewelery shops. It is becoming as busy with shopping for jewelery as NYC 5th Avenue. I go on vacation to see different locales and to get the flavor of the area and these shops are taking away from the experience. There should be more shops exhibiting local artists creations. Creek Street is for me the main attraction in this village it is a historic area running along a creek wher the sidewalks are a wooden board walk. This was the former "Red Light District" of the town.
