Got off the ship around 0715 and started hitting a few of the souvenir shops and walking around before my excursion time. There are more shops and restaurants than I thought there would be. There are numerous places to eat as well as a selection of bars/restaurants. Road work, along with 5 ships docked here today made for a very crowded outing. The prices I paid for things (no jewelry) were actually reasonable. There are numerous excursions available (I did the Rain Forest Zipline, which was nice). If you choose not to do an excursion, you could easily stay busy checking out the shops and getting a bite to eat. There is a tourist / info office right at the pier next to ramp 3. Didn't see any bears while doing the zipline (bears hit that area during salmon spawning). I did see numerous bald eagles flying around. Overall, a nice port.

Started the day with a crab fest, excellent food, and they feed you all that you can eat. Then on to the Lumberjack show. It was great show, still left us a couple of hours in town to shop

Ketchikan is a port city and tourism is a major part of who they are. Our excursion was a tour of the city led by someone who had lived there all his life. Ray was full of stories and history about Ketchikan. We saw the totem poles and heard the history, took a tour of Dolly's and got the Creek St history. It was definitely a good day. I highly recommend going to Annabelle's for chowder or the crab mac 'n cheese. That was one of the best meals I have had....ever!
