Town was crowded. Enjoyed our excursion. Whale watching and Salmon bake was superb. Wished we would have had a little more time to look around Juneau.

Great time in Juneau, even in the rain! We spent the day whale watching on a Harv and Marv tour! There were only 6 people in the boat, so it is very personal. We saw humpbacks and orcas on our 4 hour tour! Gave us snacks and drinks onboard as well! After that we went to Tracy's Crab Shack. It was a great experience! We shared the combo, perfect for two!

Such a beautiful city! We did the Mendenhall Glacier tour and Mt. Roberts tram, would recommend both! The weather was so beautiful in Juneau that day we decided after taking the tram up to Mt. Roberts we would hike down and take in the mountain air. We are both avid outdoorsman so we had no problem with the terrain, be warned it can be steep and sometimes slick if wet from the rains. Great restaurants and shops to get those souveniors before you rebound the ship. The docking location of the ship is extremely close to town so everything is easily accessible.

Departed ship at 0700. Went directly to excursion bus at the pier (lots of buses for excursions were there; very orderly). I went on the whale watching and Mendenhall glacier tour. Bus ride to marina was about 25 minutes...had an entertaining bus driver 😁. Boat ride was about 3 hours. We saw a few whales....they never breached, but at least we saw them. Back to the marina and the bus ride to Mendenhall. We had an hour on our own at the glacier. You can get nice pictures where they drop you off. It's about a mile to the waterfall from the visitors center. I brisk walked to the falls, took some pics of the falls and the glacier again, and brisk walked back to the drop off point in 35 mins. The falls look further away than they are. Back on the bus to the ship, as it was almost last-call for boarding. I didn't get to shop or visit the immediate pier area. We drove through the shopping area while on the bus....I will say it looks like they have some nice places to shop and eat. Also the tram was pretty close to the pier. Nice port to visit.

My son went kayaking and we both went whale watching and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We saw whales doing something called bubble netting. That was great!

So many great excursions from which to choose! We ended up doing the Mendenhall paddle and hike with Above and Beyond Alaska in the morning. It was strenuous, but totally worth the effort! Our guides (Dan and Elliot!) took really good care of us (warm, waterproof gear provided), and took us to an ice cave before climbing up to a crevasse. Meanwhile, my daughter went to Nugget Falls with her grandparents and all really enjoyed it. That evening we took a whale watching dinner cruise. The meal highlighted lots of local specialties (salmon, reindeer, halibut, caribou, berries, etc...) but the wildlife was the star of the show. We lucked out by spending some time with a pod of orcas before visiting humpback whales, sea lions, and eagles. Fantastic day!
