Would like to have had more time to explore the city, but from what we did see it was great.

Went on a whale watch with salmon bake. We saw 4 whales, sea otters, and eagles. Best salmon we’ve ever eaten.

Oh my! We did a canoe trip to Mendenhall glacier. It was a 2 1/2 mile trek paddling but we got really close to the glacier. Our guide, David, led us right under the waterfall! Soooo fun! Thank

I did the excursion that had a brief city tour, trip up the Tram, and a short hike up at the top where the Tram takes you. I enjoyed the excursion but this is what I’ll do next time, this is also a tip. The Tram is right in middle of the main three cruise ship docks, very close to the ships. Next time I’ll do another excursion and go up the Tram on my own, before or after an excursion, and hike around one of the loops at the top. There was no need to buy the excursion, you won’t be in danger of missing ship departure. The city tour was super short, not really needed. And the loop up at the top that we hiked can be done on your own. It’s short, just stay on the trail, and mind the signs. Or you can just skip hiking and enjoy visiting the buildings up at the top. Or do both.

Whale watching tour and Helicopter tour and dog sledding. Both booked through Shore Excursions Group and were the highlight of the whole trip.

An outside crew fixed our generator. We arrived in Juneau a few hours late. We had a late start but we went to Mendenhall Glacier.

this port would have been much better with 80% less jewelry shops and pushy shop assistants pestering people on the streets to enter their store and then rip them off asking ridiculous prices that are only for the unassuming tourist.

Rather than arrange our excursions through HAL, I went on-line to book our activities. Although all the activities were great, the one in Juneau was the best. We took a helicopter to the Frazier Glacier, (in stead of the Mendenhall Glacier that so many of the cruise passengers go), to be met by our musher and our dogsled lesson and ride. Afterwards we got to hold puppies which was icing on the cake. The entire experience was fantastic, but expensive. $500+ for each of us for a once in a lifetime experience.

In Juneau we did the whale quest and Mendenhall Glacier excursion. We felt they kept us quite a distance from the whales. Even with our telescopic lens we couldn't get good photos of the whales. There didn't seem to be as many whales as we had hoped, but that is nature.
