This is a really cute little town. We were the first cruise back there and they put on a ceremony. Also was able to talk to some of the locals. Very nice.

Pretty small town. Not a lot to do, but quaint and charming. Take a nature tour offered by the ship or find someone to take you on a hike. (Lots of nature around Haines.) (The ship's tours are pricey for what you get.)

We did not spend much time in town.

8/28/18 Stayed on board. Weather- rain and 59° (f). Be careful going up the bridge when it rains. Saw a few slip and falls. It's a lengthy wooden bridge.

We didn't actually see Haines; we saw Sitka, but Sitka wasn't offered as a review item. Sitka is interesting, and we enjoyed the semi-submersible view of the underwater world, but it's really very touristy. All the shops seem alike after a bit.

hated the port; if I want to see a Museum of 1200 Hammers I can go down to my cellar!

The visit to the cannery was disappointing as it was not operating at that time. We just looked at the facility. The Raptor Center was worthwhile.

Lovely old homes from the previous military base. Many are now bed and breakfasts, interesting town, very laid back.
