Noooo .. sorry .. we are on the other side of the border on the west coast of Ontario on the shores of lake Huron. But we are retired and in a nice "lifestyle" community. Love it.

you’re in Williamsburg ?

Congratulations.

I'm just waiting for the right job offer to get out of Western NY. Hopefully its somewhere warmer, and closer to a cruise port.

So happy for you.I spent almost four years in the Newport News shipyard and toured the Williamsburg area frequently. Back in the late 70s, a season ticket to Busch Gardens cost $25 (yes, the the whole year).. The brewery next door had a tram service, and as a Navy guy, for $25 we got to see the the park visitors (special game was to pick out someone in the first 15-20 minutes, then keep track how often you saw that same person. Ride the tram and get three free beers, then return to the park and people watch. There was a magic show I must have watched over 100 times trying to figure out the act. The brewery bartenders got to know us, knew we were well behaved, and frequently allowed us a fourth or fifth free one on our second visit. Between the park, the Colonial Parkway to Yorktown and Jamestown I had many memorable good times in your new home area. The Grand Illumination was a quiet religious ceremony in the 70s. Now, it is so commercialized and packed with people. Chowning's Tavern had board games and tons of peanut shells on the floor. I still do the one candle per window in reference to Williamsburg. It is a fast growing area, much more developed than 40+ years ago. Still my dream location. Enjoy !!

As a born and bred Virginian from the area you're moving to, you're going to love it here! The change of pace, the smiles, the hellos, the accents, (and more) will be a bit of a culture shock! Remember, we have very few snow plows and we're clueless regarding how to drive in the snow! (Wish I was joking!) Congrats and see you on some of those Norfolk based cruises!

I grew up in the Bronx...she's a Philly girl...escaped from NJ 20+ years ago...I know you've been down to the area you're moving to gawd knows how many times, just like we did when we made the BIIIIIIG move, sold out and built too......we practically commuted, and not nearly as close as where you're going......even tho there's probably waaaaay more yankees there than here (the back of beyond and we're the only ones for quite a distance) my comment about culture shock stands....actually moving to and living in a place where EVERYBODY is nice was....shocking......its just not the same as "visiting", no matter how many times you do it....don't bother even closing your checkbook, or putting your credit cards in your wallet..just hold them in your hands ready for instant use......but I bet you figured that out awhile ago!! hehehe

Moving from NY, just outside of Manhattan. 15 min from Pier 88. Williamsburg has a lot to offer. Home won’t be finished til November.
thanks for the well wishes

Congratz man. We made that same move 1 year and a half ago and are so very happy.

Congratulations! I hate moving but sometimes it's is the best opportunitiy for a happy life. keep us posted, please.

Congratulations!!...don't know where you're moving from, but I hope you enjoy the culture shock....we sure did...smartest move we ever made....course, my neighbors are mostly trees...a distinct improvement...heheheh
