What's Next for Carnival ? Double Wide Ships ?

Reuters : Carnival Cruise Lines has hit a new low in trying to identify with its core customer base. The giant of the cruise line industry has partnered with YUM BRANDS, owners of fast food chains ; Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Wing Street.

Every ship will be retrofitted with two of the four options in the coming years. " this is a great deal for us " said a Carnival representative. " it gives us a chance to serve the food our guests are accustomed to while on vacation ."

Next on the horizon for Carnival ? Cabins with linoleum floors and wood paneling perhaps ? Glued and framed jigsaw puzzles hanging on the walls ? Wink

So funny, everyone!

I don't want to eat this kind of food on a ship. I travel a lot with Carnival but this is too much. But I gotta say that I see lots of passengers eating hot dogs or burger on cruises - especially the kids. Don't get me wrong, I had great hot dogs on HAL at the Dive-In because the fries are so good there but that was just to try out the 5 different kinds of dogs served. I don't pay all this money to eat fast food on a cruise. Carnival must know that there is a market for fast food and it may save them a lot of money serving this type of meals. Carnival just may have the last laugh!

Golden ceremonial fork perhaps ?

I won’t be surprised to see a fondue specialty restaurant on a ship. I doubt they’ll put your name on the door BAK but hopefully you’ll at least get priority seating!

No flame required. They could use those portable induction heaters and set the temp just high enough to keep the cheese or chocolate melted.

Carnival may not want it's passengers to have sharp item like a fondue skewer and ships do not like open flames....... as the end of the flaming baked Alaska of decades past.

I sent them an idea. It was for a fondue type restaurant on board. Never heard back

Well I completely bought into it! Better watch out BAK, Carnival could run with this idea now and you wouldn’t get any credit at all!Big Smile

(And just when I was starting to warm up to the idea of Pizza Hut at sea…Sad)

Ok, what you guys need to realize is that when I write stuff like this, the source is usually the voices in my head. Something will pop in, that I think is kinda funny, and I tweak it a bit. In the past I have written stuff that was quite believable, and actually had a few people searching the web for confirmation of the story. It's just for laughs. Have a great holiday. BK

When I saw this topic my first thought was, “Royal Caribbean already did that,” then I realized I was being too literal.

I certainly wouldn't get food from any of those venues on a cruise (okay, maybe Taco Bell at 2:00am if I’d been drinking – just for nostalgia's sake) but I understand the reason behind it. Carnival has positioned themselves as THE cruise line for first-time cruisers and it’s important to give them a familiar environment. There are people (Americans) who go to Europe but only eat in McDonald’s the whole time they’re there.

The important thing to us is what gets cut to make room for this. We absolutely LOVE the food at Blue Iguana and wouldn't sail on a ship that replaced it with KFC.

They could show reruns of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Yummy
