What it will look like cruising on Norwegian for a while

Norwegian Cruise Line has released the six key health and safety protocols that they will be implementing on their ships when they resume sailing. What do we think?

Remains to be seen exactly HOW they intend to implement these items. The devil is in the details. And I'm wondering if the CDC has "blessed" these "protocols" as sufficient. I see they made a passing mention of "adjusted" sailings. Might be nice if they "adjusted" their website...they're still listing cruises that don't exist...i.e. to CANADA...makes one doubt their ability to organize a fleet of ships if they can't "fix" their own website...and how, pray tell, are they going to decide which bookings are "too many"....or who exactly gets "enhanced screenings". I notice theres no mention of hall passes for seniors. That's a good thing...There are some who would take this propaganda piece at face value. It leads to more questions than they are prepared to answer methinks. But we're all going to find out soon enough...AND..I'm waiting for the others to follow up with their "versions"....

I guess it is NCL's way of showing the world that an effort is being made. This is their position now but as time moves on items/policies will be altered, added or deleted. Stay tuned.

The filters are a great idea. People have been requesting them for the casinos for a very long time. If nothing else, that's a positive. Those of you cruising NCL, you have to like the 48 hours cancellation policy. I'd like to see that industry wide through the end of 2020. Better medical facilities: that was one of the big CDC complaints, if I remember correctly. Not sure how they plan on testing passengers if their temperature is up. How about the fool with the sunburn..."his" skin is going to be hot! I agree at least the currently isn't a doctor note required. Looking forward to seeing how all this plays out!

It sounds like a great start ... but of course the follow through and the details are going to be the real measure

I have see rumors that Carnival will be doing some of the same things, i think i even saw something that they will begin use thermo cameras now.. it will be interesting to see for sure. We are supposed to set sail Aug 9th, so I will be able to fill everyone in on all the details if we do indeed set sail.

As far as I can tell so far, you have the dubious distinction of being one of the first to actually cruise under the new rules, whatever they are. I can almost guarantee that your review will be one of the most read ever. Because if it isn't, it sure ought to be.

I agree that we will be watching for her review! DWalker, I know you will be taking good notes!

You know I will take plenty of notes!!! I am not easily bothered by things, so y'all just know I am going to look for the positive all over the place and try to avoid the negative! Big Smile

I really am pretty excited, not just because I am always excited to cruise, but to be one of the guinea pig so to speak. I am interested in what they plan to change etc. I've seen a lot of things that could be changed, for example, pool reservations..In my opinion, reservations for the pool won't work. I mean they can't seem to get a grip on chair hogs, how will making a reservation for the pool be any easier to control?

I will for sure let everyone know how it goes, and before we pull out of port, and my phone is turned off, I can at least let you know how things went getting onboard. Fingers and toes crossed for no more cancellations!!

Sounds like a plan to me. But don't "avoid" what didn't work. Like what happens re "temperature checks", or lines, or the rediculous lifeboat drill...or or or.....I'm particularly curious about the # of folks onboard...they claim they'll sail with 30%, or deliberately having vacant cabins and so on...Mebbe it'll all work?? who knows? But I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it'll be most appreciated!!!

Oh, no I will make sure to note what didn't work, what did, what is a waste of time etc.. I'm just not a person who looks for the bad, i feel your mood will make your cruise. You have a negative outlook, well you will have a craptastic trip.

I solemnly swear I will report the good, the bad and the ugly.. and by the ugly I don't mean the people who wear what they shouldn't Wink
