I love it so much I don't think I could ever get on a bad boat.

You are right. Thanks. There are many factors and I'm willing to go anywhere. I do like 5 to 7 day cruises. Not shorter than that.

There are so many things that go into "the best" ship. We prefer the Conquest class of ships but that's not the only factor. Our last cruise on the Vista was outstanding while our first cruise on the Vista was pitiful. The crew can make the difference. The fun squad on our January sailing was engaging and the wait staff outstanding. But they have all moved on since then. The destination and embarkationation port will also determine the enjoyment of your cruise. Our next four cruises that are booked are on the Magic, not because it is our favorite but because of the timing and destinations. We have sailed on ships two weeks in a row and the experience was extremely different each week. I'm not inclined to sail on the Mardi Gras class, because the reviews comment on how small the cabins are. We still like the two oldest ships (Elation and Paradise) but they won't have the all the newest onboard activities if you need that. Perhaps if you give a few choices that you are considering that would help. Our criteria are: date of cruise, itinerary, embakation port, cost to fly to embarkation port and lastly the ship. Sometimes it's who we are sailing with and all other criteria goes out the window.

That's a tough question to answer Freeman. Where do you want to go? When do you want to go? For how long do you want to go? Those are as important questions as what ship to sail on.

After reading the review of your last cruise, it appears you really liked the Horizon. Why not just stay on that ship, but try a different itinerary? Or perhaps you may like to sail on one of the Horizon's sister ships (Vista, Panorama). They will be laid out in a similar manner, so you'll quickly learn your way around. The Magic is just a bit smaller, but it's a beautiful ship, as is it's sisters (Dream, Breeze)

Want to go bigger and newer? Try the new Excel Class ships (Mardi Gras, Celebration, and soon the Jubilee). Want to go on a smaller ship? The Conquest Class ships might work for you (Conquest, Glory, Valor, Liberty, Freedom). Smaller yet? Try the Spirit Class (Spirit, Pride, Legend, Miracle). Want to sail on something "vintage" (ie: old). You can try the Fantasy class of ships (Elation, Paradise).

There are a few other classes I haven't mentioned, but I think you get my point.

Here is what appeals to my wife and I. We are both "elderly", so we like the small ships that help us conserve our steps. Our last and next cruise is on the Carnival Spirit. It's one of the oldest and smallest ship in their fleet, but it's well maintained, and in our opinion it's beautifully appointed. It's currently sailing Alaskan cruises out of Seattle, but it will move to Mobile Alabama in the fall for Caribbean itineraries. That's only a 3 hour drive from your hometown, so for you that could mean no airfare or pre-cruise hotel stay. But that may not be important to you, because it is a small ship with not as many venues to occupy ones time.

Lots to consider when planning a cruise. Good Luck.
