Watch out booking a cruise may not be a sure thing with Carnival

With all this testing crap and allowing only a few children on board, Carnival stooped to a new low. Carnival according to mr. Heald is geared to family fun. well My friend booked a cruise for december the same time I booked mine (for august) when cruising started. He paid his money, agreed to have his two girls tested by their rules(they are under 12), then today he got his cruise cancelled saying they exceeded the non vaxed cap. How could this happen? He booked real early and if the limit was reached why did they tell him then? Probably a suite or something higher dollar got booked, money talks) Offered obc on next cruise. Anyway there isnt nothing for kids to do on cruises anyway, just the pools. We were on Breeze and all the kid activities shut down, even my favorite thrill theatre. This was a christmas present for his family, grinch Carnival did that.

As if they cared....I think they figure this will eventually pass...once they "prove" they can sail without covid everywhere being an issue...then folks will get their confidence back...I think they're wrong, but wtfdik?

I wonder if it’s just Carnival or are all lines having this problem?

EXCELLENT QUESTION!!! it would be very easy to "assume" its either one...and yes, there are folks who somehow manage to breeze thru things and wonder what all the fuss is about...I'd love to hear from anyone who has cruised other lines very recently....specifically RCL and NCL, and especially when this 2 day thing goes into full effect................

I've tried to read what other lines are doing, but I tend to take their own "pronouncements" with a grain of salt. I'd much rather read something from someone who is obviously informed, and has had a recent personal experience, even if it is cyber...

There are no sure things under the current restrictions. Everything is subject to change up until the time you set foot on a ship. My current bookings are ones I made almost 2 years ago. (Had 4 cancelled) I'm not in the mood to make any new ones, outside the ones I have, until tests and masks are gone.

On this note.. I read the other day that now Carnival will NOT have testing at ports afterall.. I guess they realized the logistical nightmare this would be since you know everyone would just plan on testing at the port instead of trying to get one in the 2 day time allowance.

Why they made the announcement and backed off it almost immediately is anybody's guess...sounds to me like some grand pooh bah up on mahogany row "sent it up the flagpole" and it sounded just ever so wonderful, until questions were asked about the mechanics and legalities of it, and no satisfactory answers were forthcoming from an assortment of large companies that would be involved in the doing of it.

It wasn't all that long ago that one of these genius companies actually shuttered a plant that made those BINAX self test kits, laid off 2,000 workers and actually destroyed several million kits....they thought the thing was beaten...I kid you not.

And then some. As we have seen with some cruises changes were made after sailing as well. Best to stay fluid and flexible ... make sure you have a drink package to help stay fluid .....
