Vifp or vip

We watched Jubilee come into Galveston, it is big. Being as it wasnt taking on passengers one wondered if they would give tours to their loyal customers, like diamonds who lived in Galveston. During their cupcake party on the pier I asked this question to a crew member, an officer. He said security wont allow it. I told him I was on a warship carrying nukes and we had tours even in hong kong.. Just assigning a person to groups of five and escort them throughout the ship.Jubilee had no passengers and a thousand plus employees doing nuthing so they could do that. I asked what is the difference allowing a wedding on board with non cruisers and taking people on a tour on an empty ship. He said nuthin. Now on facebook Carnival posted a VIP tour of the ship letting the VIPS of Galveston touring the ship you know the political elete increasing our infrastructure costs so Jubilee can dock here. How many of those vips are carnival cruisers, are they terriorists. So if you are a vip you can get royal treatment, if you are vifp you rate nothing. Carnival is a sorry company for snubbing their loyal cruisers

Yeh except if memory serves,it arrived empty and wasn't scheduled to board passengers yet. So aside from privileged snoots who got to walk around and look.. well...snotty...most of the crew was probably doing busy work. And the "officers" were there to supervise all that mickey mouse bs.We all remember that stuff. Besides, those kinds of decisions probably came from corporate.

I am sure you realize this. Watch a video of what happens to a cruise ship from the time debarkation starts, until the time embarkation starts. VERY few of the crew are doing nuthing (sic). So many hands are assigned to various parts of the ship making preparations for the next cruise in 5-8 hours. A whole turn around of the ship. Food, booze, water, fuel, jewelry, clothing, aspirin, plus. New bedding, and general cleaning. Every cabin refreshed. Plus crew members leaving the ship, and new crew members coming aboard for the first time and going thru orientation.

I truly do understand your thoughts of the crew just sitting around doing nothing. While in the Navy, I was in the engine room. Pulling into a port, I watched 500-2000 crew members starting shore leave once the gangways were in place. Meanwhile, we were rigging up shore power, down powering the reactors to a safe non-full power level, cooling the massive piping slowly, and doing shutdown preventive/corrective maintenance. When my shift ended, another shift started. We were happy to get 2-4 hours ashore at a port. Many aboard a ship work long hours. Many below decks that nobody sees. I totally respect the crew on a cruise ship. Happy cruising to you, and the other members of this forum.

Yeah, but unlike a VIP, your vifp status probably leads you to believe that in addition to the tour they'd also be expected to serve you food and refreshments, meet the ship's senior staff, perhaps even experience some of the ship's entertainment and .................... oh, wait......................... never mind.

As a fellow veteran, I'm shocked at your cynicism, shocked!!!! bwahahahahaha and btw, Merry Christmas!!!!

Sorry you were dismissed. It would have been a nice perk!
