US News cruise rankings uses Cruiseline.com traveler ratings for 50% on its rankings

My dear wife pointed me to this article today in the LA Times with the US News cruise rankings.

I noticed the prominent Cruiseline.com listed in the rankings source. Interesting rankings with some surprising results and very comprehensive coverage through multiple categories.

Congratulation to everyone on this site. We all knew it was a great website. Now so does everyone else.

Absolutely agree with you, AuntPinkie. I usually do the same, looking at the lowest ratings to see if any of the issues raised were related to things that are important to me(us). More often than not, we enjoy ourselves despite the "issues" we encounter. It is all in one's mindset... our's is "relax and and have a good time.... we're on a cruise!!"

It is good publicity. I hope readers realize that, it really is opinions. I read recent reviews of my upcoming cruise from 4 different people on the same cruise and their opinions were varied from 2-5 stars. I learned something from each post that I will take with me (thank you), but I know not everyone's experience will be the same.

This is cool!

I have mixed feelings on this.

It's nice the this site's rating is deemed so reliable. My concern comes from the fact that not just a couple reviews I've read here have ranged from mis-rated (given one star instead of five) to completely idiotic in terms of the things being criticized being more related to user-error and poor consumer prep.

Relying on up to 50% of the reviews here...errrrr... I'm just not sure. I guess it comes down to how US N&W R portrays their ratings and how they are determined. In any event, it is good publicity for this site. I guess it goes without saying that the site should be prepared for an influx of new joiners.

Very cool!

Way to go Cruiseline!
