Trouble finding flights to FL for Feb?

Hi everyone! We have a cruise with carnival on 2/17-2/25 2024. I seem to be able to find the flights, however the cost with any airline is absolutely INSANE. I'm looking at FLL or MIA, coming from MA/CT. These flights are like $1000 round trip! Am i doing something wrong? What happened to flight prices! Typically google has always told me to book 1-3 months ahead of travel, and it's never failed me until now. However, I have been religiously tracking these flights for about 6 months now and the prices have not gone down a smidge. I've got a family of 4 to fly in, i can't imagine paying more for my flights than my vacation itself Nervous

WAY TO GO!!!!! ENJOY!!!!

Happy you are still going to the ports you wanted. Enjoy your cruise.

welp, im rebooked for March 2ns instead! Almost the same exact cruise, same boat, etc. I did pay $200 to switch, and the cruise was another $590. However, im saving $3k on flights so THANK YOU

Welp, I've already emailed my rep at Carnival to see if there are cruises to switch over to the week before or week after ours instead because of your comment. And the flights for those? $1000 for ALL FOUR of us. So, fingers crossed! I think we might be able to make something work here, and I will definitely come back and update this if i do. I thank you so much for the idea!

Understand completely...doing the research and booking a cruise waaaay ahead is an artform in itself...something many folks never master, or even attempt...having said that, need I say that the airfare you may have to plunk down for the privilege of flying to the ship could be considered a rather significant "credit" better spent several other ways than donating it to some lovely wonderful airline.....btw, how d'you spell "weather" again?????

Well.....this was due to where we wanted to go to. We purposely wanted to go to Aruba. The problem with going out of the NY port and trying to go to aruba would require a much longer cruise. This is a little hard with two kids in school and two working adults. I try to do a decent vacation like this every year for the 4 of us, and book significantly far ahead to get good pricing. The cruise we are going on now is about $850pp, and we paid about half that back when we booked it. If we rebooked for say, the week after or something like that, im assuming the price difference would be significant, if they had anything available. Though........i'm going to check since you mentioned it lol

Train is a pleasant way to get to a cruise port if you have the time. We used Amtrak for a repo cruise out of Boston and ending in NOLA. We parked at Depew NY and took the day car to Boston. On the way home we had sleeper cars on 2 overnight legs, one from NOLA to Chicago and the next night from Chicago back to Depew. Spent a nice day in Chicago.

Have you considered taking the train down (and back)? It can be a fun part of your vacation.

Just be sure to factor in the usual delays and don't book too tightly. I find its a very relaxing way to travel. You can sit in a comfortable seat, have abundant legroom, see the scenery go by, get up and walk around, have a snack or a drink, etc.

So, inquiring minds etc..........howcum you decided to cruise out of FL to begin with? theres literally dozens of cruises out of NY for example in FEB 24, where you could have DRIVEN to the port, even stayed over the nite b4 and avoided a potential nightmare? the vast majority of them are heading for warmer weather anyway....not too late to change yknow...its easier than you think to rebook...pay a small fee $100 or so, and they swap EVERYTHING.....we've done it several times when "life intereferes"...or we just rethink our plans..you don't need any excuse, nobody cares...its really no big deal, other than the fact those cruises are probably filling up even as I type...good luck...looks to me like you're gonna need it....along with a second mortgage.....(and FWIW, you'd have to pay ME to fly nowadays...)
