Saving money (or at least not losing it) on the high seas

I'm interested to know if anyone has any tips as to saving money while cruising. Any of those coupon book items useful? How about port tips... any places to avoid?

When I cruise, I skip a lot of nonsense I usually spend at the airport or port before embarking. It's easy to blow $ on coffees and snacks etc and I don't' overindulge till I get on the ship. I go for the most economical clean hotel I can find if the cruise is the focus of my vacation. If the land portion is part of the vacation it can be different.

I have one of the coupon books for this upcoming cruise.. It's almost a ploy to spend where you weren't going to spend it on (e.x... 2 for one exercise class, or a spa visit).

I do have a port shopping booklet as well, but if you are going to shopping, it can be helpful.

Don't buy the photos, you can end up spending $$$.
