Rubber Duckie, You're the One...

Can someone explain what Cruise Ducks are? I saw the cutest picture of a rubber duckie on the Shipmate app with a little note that said something to the extent of; Yay! you found the cruise duck. Re-hide him or keep him. Then it said he had been hand panted and where he was from. What piqued my interest was the comments saying they couldn't wait to play and find one.

OK here's the scoop... Anyone remember the "where's george?" dollar bill tracking website from the early days of the internet? Well combine that with the friendship or kindness rock hunt add in a good dash of social media and you have a beginners type of geocaching scavenger hunt.

About a year & half or 2 years ago a group of pre-teens though it would be a great idea to leave the little rubber ducks that were in the "guaranteed" win crane machines in the arcade for younger kids to find. That somehow morphed into a book of face trend with adults trying to see how far they could get their store bought duckies to travel. SOme take it a bit further than the many varieties that can be found at dollar and department store, and hand decorate them. Just type in "Cruising Ducks" in your search bar and look over the results

Personally I'm "guilty" of hiding some ducks here and there on the ships I've been on, but I don't track them nor do I post them. If not being part of a roll call game for a CC meet-n-mingle (which is how I started on this) I do hope that some youngster finds them and has a little bit more happiness.

I think everything this side of Syracuse is considered WNY. LMAO

I Spend alot of time in FLX with my travel trailer, but im yet to see any rocks!

Rubber Duckies. Meh!!

I've seen them line up in the "Customer Service" area. But have never found one myself. Sounds like a fun thing to do.

Ya they do that over here in the Finger Lakes too! (It seems to always depend whether we're considered western NY or not haha)

In our area(Western NY) people do something similar with rocks. Paint them, and hide them goofy places. Im not too clear on the premise or purpose, but it seems to be something similar to what ive also been seeing on shipmate
