Royal Caribbean lies to get you to buy (false promise of daycare)

I called and booked my cruise directly with Royal Caribbean on 3/28/19, for the 6 day Canada and new England cruise out of New York on the Adventure of the Seas. When I called, I specifically asked if daycare would be available for my 12- month- old child. Not only was I told yes, but I was even given hourly rates and approximate hours of operation. Because I was guaranteed daycare would be available, I paid nearly $3,000 for this "vacation". When I boarded on 5/25/19, I found out that daycare was NOT available on the cruise for children under 3. I would have NEVER paid $3,000 for this cruise if I hadn't been lied to!! If anything, I could've paid more to bring along a nanny to help, if I had been given the correct information. I have spoken to several team members at Roy Caribbean and, despite having the promise of daycare on a recorded line, they refuse to compensate me more than a $350 refund and a 25% voucher off a future booking.

You spent 3k for a 6 day vacation. I would assume you didn't get an inside. They offered you 350 + 25%. You complained. And posted it here. I'm asking you how much would satisfy you? That would clearly have an impact on what they offer you. It is extremely unlikely you're going to get another, higher offer.

(And yes, normally you would pay for an infant...except in 2019 RC has a "kids sail free" program. I guess you didn't get that.)

The daycare situation would not change based on the room? And not sure why you assume not inside? Because of the cost? Infants are charged the same price as adults. :(

Just out of morbid curiousity, how much are you asking for in compensation? Apparently you weren't booked in an inside. It may make a difference to all concerned.

Thank you! Great recommendation!

Here's some tips for writing a successful complaint letter

Hope that helps

Sound advice.

I can understand the anger and frustration that you are experiencing. Don't deal with the cruise line while angry. If I were you, I would comply all your evidence, then using a letter , outline all the information. Then send copies to the president of the cruise line. Sometimes you get better results with solid facts. On the next cruise, use a good TA after you have done the research. A good TA can and often will get the inside scoop.
