Royal Caribbean Cancels Bermuda Summer Sailing Season on Vision of the Seas

Royal Caribbean has canceled the scheduled Homeporting of Vision of the Seas at Bermuda for Summer 2021.

Scheduled guests have the option of 125% FCC or 100% refund.

RCI had also been offering Subsidized flights, for as low as $99 from NYC

While the cruiseline didn't come out and say it, it seems that low sales for cruises from the Island Nation, and the potential for US-Based cruises in the near future may be the culprit.

Maybe the cruiselines have more information than the public at this point.

There may be a number of things at play here, hopefully we'll find out more soon. I'm just so sick of COVID in general, but mostly not being able to cruise!

Bermuda on it's own is a very expensive destination. Hotel prices are crazy. Most affordable way to see Bermuda is on a 1 week cruise from a NE port. giving 3 days and 2 over nights there and the ship is your hotel. Bermuda is probably one of the nicest islands in the Atlantic.

Just a thought.....assuming I was willing to go to Bermuda...why would I leave?...loads of all-inclusive places, a Brit island...what?? not good enough??

Exactly my thought. Every voyage would most likely need to leave port at or near capacity to offset the costs of shipping supplies in, and subsidizing flights. Surface Cargo shipping on its own is an expensive proposition, not to mention the outrageous pricing of Air Cargo.

Bermuda would be a great home port ... but supplies are not as plentiful and can be expensive as everything has to be flown into Bermuda and it is not like they have any close neighbours.

Sorry for those that had cancellations, again!Crying

Still a wait and see. All hinges on vaccination roll out from embarkation to debarkation and all points in between.

Frankly, I think the cruise lines don't know any more than the rest of us...
