POST COVID CRUISING--WHATS THAT?

Been reading the hopeful responses to that thread. A better title might have been "CRUISING WITH COVID". I've got FIVE booked, starting end of NOV and into 2022. Not holding out much hope on ANY of them.

1) Nobody's sailing under any protocols whatsoever unless and until they're blessed by the CDC, and even then what makes anyone think the EU or anyone else out there cares what WE say? Our pols on all levels seem to have their own agendas, and many of them either lie outright or display an appalling level of ignorance..

2) What sane port "out there" would welcome a cruise ship anyway?

3) No matter what "protocols" are in place, I can just imagine the reaction when somebody's ship announces a case or three or 33 onboard.

4) I can't wrap my head around the "changes" the cruise lines seem to be proposing to get approval. Those of us who have cruised many times...well...I just don't see how its physically possible to pull it off..lines?? crowds? at almost every step of the process they're almost a given on cruise ships.

I'd love to be proven wrong, on every point. But that little voice in my head says find another way to vackay. and as I opined elsewhere..I tried, my heart wasn't in it...nothing compares to a "good" cruise....

Yep .. hard to say what people will actually do (cruise or no cruise) until the time actually arrives and they must decide. As for infection rates rising .. that depends on where you are. In this neck of the woods they are quite under control and dropping for some time. But no one is optimistically declaring the crisis beaten ... well at least not here anyway. This one will be hanging around for a while and I doubt it will be going away any time soon so we either adapt and change or we become extinct. I strongly suspect that this may just be the tip of the iceberg and that more of these may pop up in the years ahead. We shall see. Patience may be a virtue but it is a damn inconvenient pain in the back side.

First you have to bob-n-weave thru the political finger pointing, which as the election draws nearer, gets worse, not better. Unfortunately, the infection rates are also getting worse, not better. In my heart I sincerely doubt there will be ANY cruising in the next few months, to anywhere. And if there is, its decision time. Some folks say they'll cruise no matter what....really???

Oh there are going to be changes and cruising will not be as it once was nor will any form of travel. What it will be won't be determined til there is some kind of handle on this virus. TBD

Yeah, need to see what is first proposed. Is it just new lipstick on the old pig or is it going to be a whole new animal?

Its here to stay - so we'll need to live with it. If a vaccine is deployed, much of the hysteria will diminish. Unfortunately so much information is tainted with political slant - the truth is out there.

It's going to be interesting! Nothing is going to be just like it has always been. I can only hope it will still be the best way to vacation for us. Maybe the mega ships will be helpful since there is more space, IF the passenger load is smaller. I am not betting on either option.
