Please help me pick a ship :)

I am planning to take my wife on her first cruise this year to coincide (more or less) with our anniversary, November 30th. As this is my wife's first cruise, I am planning on taking her to the Caribbean. Originally I was looking at this sailing with Princess cruises:

Originally I had thought to get a balcony cabin. But now I'm thinking that if we can handle an inside cabin I could afford to go on a longer trip like this one:

What do you think? Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Some more information about what we are looking for.

We have three kids, but they aren't coming with us on this trip. We are in our mid- to late-thirties, and my wife in particular is interested in a relaxing trip as opposed to exiting/chaotic. I think things like robot bartenders and skydiving wind tunnels are cool, but my wife isn't really into it. Thus I am looking at at cruise lines that skew away from a younger crowd, whether that be kids or just adults who act like kids. ;)

The last time I was on a cruise ship there were no "specialty restaurants". We are looking forward to trying some, and I hope the ship we choose makes this worthwhile.

On-board entertainment is important, shows, music, etc. We will probably do some dancing. Jenn will probably want to take advantage of the spa services.

Hmmm... I can't think of anything else to add at the moment. If anyone has any questions I will be happy to answer them.

Thanks in advance.

I am not certain but I believe that is triggered from your profile when you enter your next upcoming cruise on cruise history ... I think

quick question... I signed up for the roll call for this cruise and I assumed that would add the countdown timer to my posts like I see that others have. This did not happen. Can someone tell me how to add it? thanks, :)

I have had two upgrades to balcony cabins because the price of the cruises went way down after I had booked an oceanview cabin.

Its good to see that you have booked your cabin and are ready to go-I'm sure.Big Smile

Good story. Would be nice. :) I'm sure it wouldn't take me long to get used to having my own private balcony. Whatever, the kids are still going to be in an inside cabin opposite us next time, lol! At least until they get a job! :)

We too booked an outside cabin on our first cruise and then before the cruise we got a call from the upgrade fairy offering a good deal on moving up to a balcony. We thanked them and said it was a bit outside of our budget and so they said what about, and made another offer. This one was too good to say no to. So you never know. You might end up on a balcony after all ;)

The down side is we got spoiled and now we want the balcony all of the time

Cheers

Good thinking,

Ocean view. Sunlight in the morning is definitely a good thing, especially since we are not particularly good at getting up early. I decided that the money for a balcony cabin could be better spent elsewhere. At least for this trip. :)

What type of cabin did you finally decide upon? We're all excited for you. Can't you tell?

They do have some interesting ports of call available from San Juan. A lot of ports that I have never been to. That is something I hope to do in the future.
