Dirty ship

In response to review, MrChocoholic says ...

Whoa, if you think the Pearl is looking beaten up, try the Sky. I was aboard the Pearl almost two years for a rock and roll charter and I can TELL you one of those stains was caused by my spilled drink in the lobby near the stage. Like about 10,000 others. Sky and Pearl are used for short cruises with lots of people on and off adding wear and tear. On Sky, compound the effect of FREE BARS--that's right all inclusive--on bathrooms, floors and carpets.‚

I will not use the excuse of short cruises. ‚ I have been on RCI and Carnival ships that only did the 3 and 4 night party cruises to Mexico and they have all been clean. ‚ I put blame on the Captain and Mgnt for not keeping the ship clean. I had been on the Monarch Of The Sea's multiple times and I could tell when a new Captain was on the ship by the fact that everything on the ship sparkled. ‚ She did not go in for a re-fit, ‚ just new Captain paying more attention to everything‚ being cleaned and polished.

Issues like these start with how the captain and ship's officers manage their respective staff. If they pay attention to the details, treat their staff well and set expectations clearly as to the performance level, it translates to the guests in a better experience, a cleaner ship, better food prep, etc. ‚ Look higher up the command chain when issues like this are chronic.

I would agree with OldGreyWolf. Talk to Norwegian about it before making any knee jerk reactions, but it sounds like that either a) it will be due for a dry dock soon, b) staff changed over and/or c) the previous shorter cruises are showing its use per chocholic's insight.

Sorry to hear the cruise was not up to expectations. Considering you are comparing this ship to three on the east coast that is a good comparison and two of those (Dawn and Gem) were recently refitted. I would definitely think this is something that you should speak to Norwegian about as you are a repeat customer and have had better experiences with them. This is one of those things that maybe Norwegian needs to look into. Do not rule out Norwegian for future cruises because of 1 bad experience. Like any large organisation sometimes you hit upon one location that is under bad management. Maybe a change of hotel director is in need here.
