Norwegian Escape grounded

I see that Escape grounded leaving the new port in DR. I see that passengers were put off in the DR and sent home and the following cruise has been cancelled. Sounds like a bit more damage than is good occurred. It was under the control of the pilot but this is a brand new port just opened 2 or 3 months ago and I am sure not accustomed to the big behemoths. Apparently they encountered heavy winds which they say grounded her.

Im sure some maritime engineer is no longer employed...along with a underwater surveyor.

"Oh yea, channel's deep enough. No More dredging required!"

:Crunch:

"well, we thought it was deep enough..."

Looks like not enough research and/or intel. Sorry for the passengers. At least they’ll have a story to tell.

There are several articles on a number of news sites ... none have very much info

Interesting. Did not see any news report on this incident. Do you have a link?

Wonder if the Captain is still employed...pilot or no, its HIS responsibility...
