Medallian implementation

Any news on when Island Princess will be equipped for the medallion?

It is my thought that they will not install the medallion hardware on the other ships until they have it working fully on the Regal.

Although they did install it on the Caribbean Princess during last summer (due to the Regal being in Europe and they wanted to do as much troubleshooting as possible during that time) it is not at 100%.

The last I heard (on YouTube) was that Princess was hoping to have it running on the Regal by April 2019. After that, they will start on the other ships, probably taking care of it during their scheduled dry docks.

We are sailing on the Regal in April, it will be interesting.

Which cruise? We are on her on April 14.

yep that’s the one. Coffee?

Already purchased the coffee card!Big Smile

I will probably be hanging out a lot at the aft pool area, looking for Gerry the Giraffe!

I still have six coffee cards from previous cruises, so I’m hoping to use them up before the stop accepting them. I was told that would be August. Who’s Gerry the Giraffe? I do lead a sheltered life.

Big Smile

Gerry is the unofficial ship's counselor who administers to his patients in the smoking area, one flight above the aft bar, on the Royal Princess.

He was "brought to life" over a year ago in the "Where Is Everybody" thread when Debbie was making fun of the kid's area butting up against the smoking area, with a large giraffe head poking out over the fence staring at all the smokers. His legend temporarily grew. There are pictures somewhere in that thread, but I cannot find them.

Truth be known, I had several lengthy conversations with him, along with my friends Jim Beam and Captain Morgan.

I was wrong. Gerry was actually born here:

Also, if you search for "Gerry" in the site search bar, you will come up with a couple of other threads. Don't bother going past the first page, though.

We were on the regal November 1-11 2018. Our CC mini suite was not OM ready. We noticed the crew working hard to do installations. Not sure it’s worth the hype. You’ll still need your card to get off and back on the ship so the medallion is just one more thing to carry around. Perhaps in a couple years I’ll have a different opinion.

We we also got free unlimited wifi internet and while the hi speed is faster than the zoom when I was on Mariner of the seas a month later, there were some dead zones on the ship and they had outages a few times while they worked on the system. The hi speed was good enough that I could stream video on my iPad. I was impressed.
