Technology. gotta love it!!!

We are on the Caribbean Princess May 14, and hopefully it will be ready after almost a month in the shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas. I keep getting E-mails about the Ocean medallion and I don't want one. The Ocean Ready app had been down for a few weeks, so I can't sign in. Heard there is a lot of problems with it. That being said we are going to relax and I don't need all the things it says it has. If it worked it would be nice if it opened the cabin door, but after 18 cruises that is a trivial thing. Happy cruising everyone.

We were on the regal November 1-11 2018. Our CC mini suite was not OM ready. We noticed the crew working hard to do installations. Not sure it’s worth the hype. You’ll still need your card to get off and back on the ship so the medallion is just one more thing to carry around. Perhaps in a couple years I’ll have a different opinion.

We we also got free unlimited wifi internet and while the hi speed is faster than the zoom when I was on Mariner of the seas a month later, there were some dead zones on the ship and they had outages a few times while they worked on the system. The hi speed was good enough that I could stream video on my iPad. I was impressed.

I was wrong. Gerry was actually born here: https://cruiseline.com/forum/post/giraffe-on-the-royal-princess

Also, if you search for "Gerry" in the site search bar, you will come up with a couple of other threads. Don't bother going past the first page, though.

Big Smile

Gerry is the unofficial ship's counselor who administers to his patients in the smoking area, one flight above the aft bar, on the Royal Princess.

He was "brought to life" over a year ago in the "Where Is Everybody" thread when Debbie was making fun of the kid's area butting up against the smoking area, with a large giraffe head poking out over the fence staring at all the smokers. His legend temporarily grew. There are pictures somewhere in that thread, but I cannot find them.

Truth be known, I had several lengthy conversations with him, along with my friends Jim Beam and Captain Morgan.

I still have six coffee cards from previous cruises, so I’m hoping to use them up before the stop accepting them. I was told that would be August. Who’s Gerry the Giraffe? I do lead a sheltered life.

Already purchased the coffee card!Big Smile

I will probably be hanging out a lot at the aft pool area, looking for Gerry the Giraffe!

yep that’s the one. Coffee?
