Asia is supposed to be a big hot destination for cruising but is it? Recently, Costa has cut back on its commitment to Asia and is concentrating more on Europe. It joins Carnival, Princess and RCCL i cutting back on cruising in Asia. Here's a link to more information. Perhaps the Asian market is oversupplied.

I did post prices as others also have done here showing flights and costs. I am involved with several tickets a year US /Canada to Asia, it really is not costly as compared to other places, it just is a long flight. On a cost per mile basis I think cheaper than many US Domestic Flights.
I agree it is not for everyone but the cost is really not the main issue.
I think what that kids is trying to say (he is will known) it depends on the city the person needs to start their traveling from will vary in flight cost.

I take many cruises and i dont think i want to spend more money jsut to cruise on the other side of the earth whne i can take twice as many cruise here in the usa.
it really depends upon whether you cruise just to be on a ship, or cruise to see different parts of the world. Itinerary is important to me - Caribbean cruises may be more cost effective but less interesting.
maybe really do not know but the airfare Asia to United States or Europe is not $10,000 dollars. Could post at least 20 trips over the last year taken by me or friends. Traveling from Great Britain, United States, East and West Coast, Mexico, Germany all at right around $1000 dollars round trip, economy class, and never more than $1500. Even guys flying business class are not paying $10,000 per trip. Less than half of that and as cheap as $2000 a trip.
But really do not want to debate here life is to short so let's agree to disagree and move on. Hope your next cruise is great.
why dont you show your prices from the companys
The Asian Market is the fastest growing market. Yes some adjustments are needed but I do not see companies cutting but. I cruise in Asia 2 to 3 times a year, living the rest of the time in The Philippines.
RCCl is the largest provider in the area but others are starting to add many cruises. Princess is very strong here and Costa still is doing many cruises. You also have Genting Corporation here with Star Cruises, Dream Cruises and Crystal Cruise. The market down under in Australia has been busy and is growing.
Princess has been sailing at 100% on the Hong Kong & Singapore cruises. And then throw min Japan which has a very strong market. Yes the future for Asia is for growth in the market. That growth does not need to come from US Customers enough here to drive the market.

You are correct. No matter how I try to look for the best price on flights, when the flight or flights or however many hops required cost almost twice as my cabin does, it just isnt worth the total cost to me.
Yes flying in March to Narita is less pricey than high season which I had looked at, but these figures are still very different from the other member’s findings. Eva Airlines has very good reviews.
Those are pries I checked just before posting yesterday. I see no reason why others couldn't find similar prices, although they do change day to day and sometimes hour to hour! Asia can be very hot in the summer which is why all our cruises and land tours have been off season. We have never cruised in a suite, but for a balcony cabin our cost is nowhere close to $10,000 for the two of us. We mostly travel to that area before May and after September. Our December trip to China and Japan was COLD, but we had twelve days for $1200 pp including Air Canada from Toronto. We knew what temperatures to expect, so took warm clothes. This was a tour with a Canadian operator and included a six day cruise. We don't usually choose organized tours, but this visited parts of China we had missed before and the cruise ports in Japan were new to us. The clincher was the price, which was too good to miss.
In our case though we usually drive to port and once on a repo we took the Amtrak. Start adding a couple of thousand for a flight and there goes the cruise.
On Expedia.ca, Delta Airlines Toronto - Narita $1544CAD return. Next March 16 which is the time we are looking at.
Same date, Vancouver - Narita, Eva Airlines (very good airline) $1117 CAD return. One stop.
These rates are per person return.
