Interesting new policy for NCL on cancelations

NCL chief FDR has stated no more FCC. Instead they say they will issue cash refunds for any cancelations.

Just received an email today from my NCL casino host notifying me our cruise to Alaska in June had been canceled (I guess because Canada is on lock-down). We were offered the option of rebooking the same cruise for 2022 including the FCC and the same airfare from the east coast to Seattle. I immediately accepted the new cruise date. I have 2 other cruises scheduled for September and December 2021, at this rate I don’t feel confident they won’t get canceled too. So locking up bookings in 2022 important., especially if they are going to have limited capacity. I already have a 10 day rebook for March 2022. Still questionable if cruises longer than 7 days will be sailing by then. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeh we get the TV ads too...and we've had the mailers come out a couple of times A WEEK on occassion!!!

Naw, thats exactly why they did it...they have a bond issue coming due..can't be paid for with anything but cash...I didn't read the terms, my dry powder isn't going to get wet if ye follow...but I don't think the bondholders would take stock...they'd have to print it anyway and dilute themselves to do it....so heres a whole bunch of peeps who made good faith reservations and according to their latest $$ machinations, they have to refund it....eh? This ought to be interesting....apparently the folks on mahogany row can get caught with their pants down...not just us po ol retail types....

Not to mention their TV ad campaign. It's been going on for months in my neck of the woods (WI). They (NCL) are the only ones doing it. I haven't seen anything from CCL, RCL, Disney, or anyone else.

Up until just recently I believed they knew something, for what cruise company would spend advertising dollars on something that could not happen, or that they didn't know if it could happen. Especially one that has lost a ton of $$$ betting the restrictions would be lifted earlier this year and started to crew up their ships, only to have to repatriate the crew a couple months later. Now the cynical side of me is coming to the conclusion that perhaps they're just doing it to get the booking revenue.

I find myself questioning their management.

Now now, everybody get a grip.....we know how these things change with the phases of the moon...all we can do is watch and wait...just so happens we have 2 booked 11/21 and 2/22 with CCL...but what one does, the others do...our next one on NCL isn't until 4/22...the others after that into 23....what does it all mean?? beats me...but if people bought into those NCL just cancelled cruises recently expecting to sail after being bombarded by their emails and mailers, well.....

You're probably right. It's just that we have a CCL cruise scheduled for June on the new Mardi-Gras and we were still holding out hope that it would happen. Back in December I thought it would be cancelled, but then earlier this year I started thinking the vaccines could potentially save the day. But the vaccine roll-out hasn't been fast enough, and those hopes are rapidly diminishing.

Oh well, it is what it is. At least we'll have a nice OBC to use next year.

Still a lot to be figured out. The earliest time for cruising imho would be fall of 2022 and this is all dependent on the worldwide vaccination roll out and take up. Cruising could be back earlier but in limited ports.

Just announced that NCL has removed June '21 bookings from their site. We all know what usually happens after that.

Not yet had the chance to dig too deep today and when I looked at our accounts a week ago did not see anything. But I am waiting to see what happens with my Sept. 2021 cruise to Canada & NE. We know it cannot happen and are just waiting for them to officially cancel.
