Hey guys i have not been cruising since the start of covid and wondering how safe is it to cruise now a days. Is there still alot of concern about covid on cruise lines. How are the buffets are they different to prevent germs?

Hmmm. It's curious how I can tell which posts are from one political party or another just by reading the responses.

I am glad the last ship I was on was at 33% capacity and I had no issue wearing my masks when I was in crowded areas; I came home COVID-19 free.

The only thing I do see that still bothers me is hearing how people don't sanitize or use the utensils when getting food from the buffet.

Oh, well. SAR-CoV2 is a mainstay like the cold and the flu. I am really just waiting for the COVID pills and syrup to appear on the shelves.

Enjoy your week.

Cruising has now been officially declared a part of real and normal life. It is as safe or as dangerous as any point of your day to day activity. It is whatever you make it to be. Your call man.

There are some looks, but people seem to know the difference between a sneeze and a hacking cough. There seem to be more sanitizers around. BUT there will always be those that don't wash their hands or use the sanitizer.

Sometimes......and it doesn't matter where...but you'll notice just about everybody in here who cruises just....cruises on.....I don't pay much attention anymore...we do always try to wait for a "relatively empty" elevator onboard...but that doesn't always work either...

My first post covid cruise is coming up and I plan to treat covid like I always treated norovirus... keep my hands clean and don't touch my face. I was a semi germ phobe before covid but I am curious too. I wonder often how other will behave. Remember those first few weeks of wide spread covid and if you sneezed (even if it was just allergies) a million feet from someone, they would still give you a dirty look. Does things like that still happen?

Here's my answer to your question.

It's as safe as traveling on a plane, train, bus, or any other mode of mass transit.

It's as safe as attending any sporting even, concert, political rally, or any other heavily attended event.

It's as safe as going shopping at a grocery or department store, even around the holidays.

It's as safe as going out to breakfast, lunch, or dinner at a popular restaurant.

It's as safe as going to a church, temple or mosque for religious services.

It's as safe as going to a bar, nightclub, or movie theatre for an evening of entertainment.

It's as safe as going to a party or a large family gathering.

IMHO it's SAFER than going to a hospital or clinic. That's where sick people, germs and viruses are concentrated.

Anyone can get Covid by attending any of the functions or events I have listed above. So if one regularly participates in any or all of them, they should have no issues going on a cruise.

Cruising is as safe as being in any large gathering for a lenght of time. The ships are full and therefore crowded. There will always be some people sailing who are ill and should stay home but don't and go on their cruise. The cruise lines are not doing anything extra anymore to prevent big groups of people gathering in any space. Elevators are full. In other words things are pretty much back to normal as far as the number of people and contact with others. Covid is everywhere and will probably be with us forever. It's a matter of going about your daily life and taking whatever precuations you want to take or staying home away from people. Some people feel safer wearing a mask and you will see them on ships. Usually no one will say anything negative to them as they feel it is their choice. As you an imagine there are some sailings that might have an outbreak because of more ill passengers boarding and some that are free of any illness. Some people may test positive on a sailing and will be quarantined to their cabin and some people may feel ill, but don't bother to be tested on board and wander the ship. No place is totally safe from this virus. It's a matter of what risk you are will to take.

Bottom line is you'd never know it happened...other than the "rare" person wearing a mask...as to "is it safe?"........all I know is we cruise, knowing full well its on every ship, and whatever "numbers" are still being reported are ignored, they aren't accurate anyway, and probably never were...the bookings alone tell you all you need to know...I have found Jurassic Park meals are generally lower in quality and quantity, however the noise and crowds are back to normal. Enjoy the elevator rides...
