Hate hearing things like this. Waiting for some details.

Another tragedy at sea ... and as with most is likely something that could and should not have happened.

IMO, 100% of these incidents fall under the "Play stupid games; win stupid prizes" theory.

There is absolutely NO reason for any passenger to mount, climb over, or otherwise scale the railing, whether inboard or outboard. Railings are a safety feature, by attempting to defeat a safety feature, you are asking for grievous injury and/or death.

This is so sad to hear.

Sorry to hear that this happened (again). I agree that they didn't jusy happen to "fall" overboard. That doesn't diminish how sad it is or had sad we feel for the family. There aren't any measures we can take to make cruising "fool proof". I appreciate you sharing this, even if it is ver sad.

Well, maybe we'll get more details, maybe not. What I find interesting is the number of incidents/injuries "reported" over the 10 year period mentioned in that article. It doesn't say if its worldwide, or includes crew, or if any lines don't report, and so on and so forth. We live in a brave new world where you take NOTHING at face value....

I found more, but I'm not putting up links to it..who knows which are accurate...seems like this passenger went over their "balcony", and landed on another passenger below...that person apparently is ok. We know what kind of talent it takes to go over your balcony...

There is also the third option of foul play, or fourth too much alcohol or someone was auditioning for a Darwin award.

It's very distressing to hear about these incidents, you are correct, these things should not happen. To fall from an area to the deck indicates that (1) the railing or partition was not at the correct height or (2) someone was sitting on the railing or partition. Either scenario is not acceptable.

I feel for the family of the person that fell.
