One exciting thing that happened was an emergency helicopter evacuation. (never saw one in peacetime, let alone at sea).Captain made an announcement that there would be a medical evac by helicopter, and that he would be slowing the ship down for it..."thankyou for your cooperation etc"...forward deck area was a huge H painted on the deck, but the CG helicopter (we were about 150 miles south of the Mississippi River Delta inbound) lowered a gurney and a tech...also noticed big ol CG plane circling...lifted the patient in the gurney, crew stabilizing it so it wouldn't spin....how'd we actually see all this?...well...one of the channels on TV is a constant "view from the bridge", focused out over the bow...so for the first time in history, we actually watched it live. Good to know that it something big really hits the big ol fan, you're not completely SOL....wonder who gets the bill for all that?

EMERGENCY EVAC

We've seen 1-3 evacs on our last 4 cruises. Guessing folks are pushing it - they paid the $$ and don't want to give up the vacation. We had one man collapse on an excursion - just had a heart attack 2 weeks prior to boarding.
Scuttlebutt had it that it was an injured crew. got no further info than that, and frankly didn't try very hard. However the Capt made a few announcements prior and after...other than the who and the extent of the injuries, we knew all we had to. None of that "the ship is filling with water stuff". heheheheheh
Thanks for the update!

Wow! Hope the passenger is doing OK. That will be one for the memory book.
Quite the sight to experience- seems from your post that the EVAC was well thought out and executed.
It is amazing what those folks can do! We have seen a few rescues at sea and are always impressed!
