Do You Dress For Themed Nights on a Cruise Ship?

That would require making room in my luggage, so, no. Aside from Halloween, I can't remember a ship even having a theme night. Except for NCLs White Hot Night

Very true CruisingCM! I can participate in “Tropical Night” because I normally have an Aloha shirt or two packed, but I’m certainly not prepared for “70s Night” or “Country Night”…

No, but much of the reason is that they are not particularly well-publicized by the cruise line. The event needs to be clearly announced before people get on the ship. My experience has been every one of the theme nights has been a surprise that we've found out about on the daily newsletter.

I used to pack White for NCL White Hot Night. I also dress up in a Tux for formal nights on a long cruise. Being a Jeans and Polo kind of guy a Tux is a "costume" for me.

I remember Costa cruise line used to have a Roman Bacchanal on every cruise and would provide extra sheets and instructions in every stateroom so guests could all dress in togas. We never got to try that, but it sounded like fun! Does anyone know if Costa still does that? Has anyone ever been to a shipboard toga party? Share your photos if you can!

Other than Tropical Deck Party night (which we do dress for) we don’t see too many theme nights any longer. I don’t think Norwegian even does their White Hot Night any more.
Gloria, did you know about all those theme nights before you set sail so you could try to pack for them?

HAL used to provide hats and other accessories tfor passengers to wear. I remember wear a Dutch Hat, a French beret and Gondolier's hat for Italian night.. My kidsw loved the dressing up part. At least we didn't have to pack anything extra. On my Grand Voyage they gave us the masks pictured above of the Masked Ball.

Yes. It's so much fun. I miss the costume nights they used to have.

I don't get much of a chance to dress up either. If I can dress in something that is not too bulky to pack I do so. This Valentine's Day I will dress in red and wear strand of valentine hearts around my neck at our condo's brunch. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
